GUIDELINES AND REGULATIONS

  • ”Startup Mania” event is planned for two category of participants:
    Student Innovators :
    UG/PG Students from Engineering Colleges, Arts & Science Colleges, B-schools, Polytechnic, Medical Colleges & Agricultural Colleges.
    Other Innovators :
    Alumni, budding startupreneurs, startups, entrepreneurs and working professionals.
  • Please download the presentation template here . Not more than 15 slides. You may use your own covering all the points mentioned.
  • Registrations may be submitted by individuals or by teams. A team can consist of maximum 3 members.
  • A team can submit only one idea. Also, an individual can be a member of only one team.
  • Registration for the “Business Model Competition” should be done on or before 15.11.2020 Midnight.
  • There is no registration fee.
  • After careful evaluation of submitted registrations, we will shortlist participants for the prelims.
  • The shortlisted participants will be announced online and intimated through email.
  • Business Plans can be explained in English as well as Tamil. But please make sure the presentation content is primarily in English. Tamil content can be included wherever necessary.
  • The Participants shortlisted for prelims will make his / her own arrangement for food & travel to the Venue if the event is not in online mode
  • Team shortlisted for finals has to attend 3 days (residential) Bootcamp at TBI@KEC.
  • Only 2 person per team can participate in Bootcamp.
  • Participants for Bootcamp has to make their own travel arrangements for to and fro if the event is not in online mode
  • Stay and Food for 3 days of Bootcamp will be taken care by organizers.
  • Decision of the judges panel will be final.
  • The participants selected for finals will appear at the “Grand Finale”.
  • “Startup Mania” event is pre-scheduled and hence we request all participants to follow deadlines. We request participants to be available at the Venue well ahead of the scheduled time.

JUDGING CRITERIA

The judges are professionals who come from various business backgrounds and include experienced investors (angels, venture capitalists, and investment bankers), experienced and successful entrepreneurs and senior business people and service professionals who interact with early stage companies. The judges consider specific criteria when evaluating ideas/ concept papers/ business models. However ultimately, winning teams usually have edge over the others mainly in the following factors:

Young Indians (Yi)

Young Indians (Yi) is a movement for Indian Youth to converge, lead, co-create and influence India’s future. As an integral part of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), a non-government, not-for-profit, industry led and industry managed organisation playing a proactive role in India's development process.

Formed in the year 2002, Yi has created a platform for young Indians to work towards realizing a dream of a developed nation. It has a growing, inclusive membership across all geographies and demographics with over 2700 direct members in 43 chapters, and 19000 students YUVA members from colleges. The Yi membership includes young progressive Indians between the age group of 21 and 45 years and comprises of entrepreneurs, professionals and achievers from different walks of life.

Through thousands of impactful projects and activities divided primarily into three areas; "Youth Leadership", "Nation Building” and “Thought Leadership”, Yi hopes to emerge as the premier Indian youth organization having a voice on relevant platforms that work on solving India’s problems. Yi grooms its members for offices of significance and also enables Indian youth to converge, collaborate and co-create using an expanding digitally enabled network.

Under Youth Leadership, Yi works effectively for promoting leadership skills for its members through programs in entrepreneurship and innovation. Yi is one of the proud founders of the G20 Young Entrepreneurs Alliance (G20 YEA) & Commonwealth Alliance of Young Entrepreneurs – Asia Pacific (CAYE- Asia Pacific) & engages the youth through international missions to many countries around the world to understand and learn from the best practices and cultures. Under Nation Building, Yi engages its members under its projects as MASOOM, Gift an Organ and Road Safety. Under Thought Leadership, Yi engages its members through a Contributory Movement of Constructive Action, Collaborative Reasoning and Collective Voice. Technology Business Incubator @ Kongu Engineering College (TBI@KEC)

TBI @ KEC, a very unique and first of its kind facility in India, was established in 2003 by Kongu Engineering College (KEC) with the grant-in-aid and support of NSTEDB/ Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India at a total project outlay of Rs.3.95 Crore for nurturing startups and entrepreneurship development in cutting-edge Science and Technology areas. TBI@KEC provides total support to the incubatees right from concept to commercialization under various stages which include project formulation, mentoring, financial assistance, co-working space and infrastructure support.

TBI@KEC has incubated entrepreneurs from Erode, Coimbatore, Chennai, and Bangalore. Products have been launched so far benefitting various sectors of economy and society (products for export). TBI@KEC received Seed fund/grants from NSTEDB, TDB, and MSME and provided financial support in the form of soft loan/ grant to deserving Incubatees; projects as on date. Under NIDHI-PRAYAS Scheme, Innovators can avail upto Rs.10 lakh as grant for converting their innovative idea into proof-of-concepts/ prototype.

TBI@KEC won the coveted National Award for the best TBI in the country for the year 2012 in recognition of its consistently good performance. The award, instituted by DST/GoI, was presented to TBI@KEC by the President of India on 11 May 2013.
